ACTION GIRL You see a teenage girl with strong features and straight, shoulder-length blonde hair. She is wearing what appears to be a brown military-style jacket with gold buttons down the flaps on the sides and a gold "AG" badge on her chest ... dashing, yet warm and comfy. She is also wearing a short full green-colored skirt, sensibly designed for freedom of movement. Evilstomping boots give her extra powers! Action Girl goes ska: You see a teenage girl with strong features and straight, shoulder-length blonde hair and a black rude-girl hat. She is wearing a crisp white shirt. She is also wearing a thin black tie, a kicky dark pleated skirt, and a small button on her right lapel with the name of the band "SKAtalites." Occupation: student Quote: Sorry boys, but we *girls* need your room!!! Affiliation: Friend of Flying Girl and Ultra Girl Background: Erica is a high school student, who has studied self defense extensively. She came to Coast City when her parents moved here for work reasons. She originally became Action Girl because she could not remain passive in the face of injustice, and felt it incumbent of a responsible citizen in society to promote the general welfare. Soon after her arrival in Coast, she fell into battle against the villainess Valkyrie. This caught the attention of William Snord, Chairman of CyborGenics Corporation of Tybana City. Unbeknownst to most, William was the youthful and idealistic superhero, Warhammer, working with the All-Flag Squadron during World War II. A technological genius, he built himself a crude but workable battle suit, and fought a number of battles until 1963, when he retired and founded CyborGenics. He was impressed by what his agents reported of the case, and decided to assist her by supplying her with high-tech weaponry to aid her battle against supervillains. Powers: Action Girl has no powers, but is quick on her feet and has good self-defense skills. Her jacket has secret pockets inside that hold surprises for the bad guys: A cannister of Mace, capable of aggravating and temporarily blinding an opponent. A dozen steel ball bearings, which she can throw with unerring aim. A web launcher. It fires a sticky web, composed of a substance simliar to Spider Man's own webbing fluid. It has an incredibly high tensile strength, and will not dissolve until a special solvent is applied, or three hours pass, whichever comes first. A sonic pulse emitter which allows her to knock livings being out cold, limited to the maximums of Human endurance. It has several settings, the upper few doing serious damage, although only in a fine tuned beam. It is generally useless on non-organic structures, except at the highest settings. A wrist communicator that allows her to contact the police from anywhere. A flash pack (a black box the size of a pack of cigarettes): four very powerful halogen bulbs discharge, very good for blinding people although it takes about 3 minutes to charge between uses. She also wears a force shield belt; the rating on that belt is about 10 tons of force. If the force-field is shorted out or overloaded, the belt will short out and spark up, and she will get burned a bit. It must be recharged overnight, and a short can be fixed with a replacement fuse. Personality: Action Girl is very self-assertive, and also very concerned about her environment. On the other hand she does have a tendency to be impulsive, occasionally rushing into dangerous situation when it is not really necessary. CAPTAIN MARVEL You see a very tall man, well over 6", with the slender but muscular build of a ballet dancer. His features are fine, with short blond hair, and his eyes look out at you through his black domino mask and seem to glitter with amusement. He is clad in a form-fitting red leather bodysuit, which fits itself to his body like a second skin. He wears a gold belt, and around his neck is a gold amulet, containing a letter "M" in the pendant. Completing the uniform are a pair of blue astro-boots. Roger Winkle You see a very tall man, well over 6", with the slender but muscular build of a ballet dancer. His features are fine, with short blond hair, and his eyes seem to glitter with amusement. He is very professorial looking in his white shirt, a tweed jacket with leather pads on the elbows, khaki trousers, and brown loafers Occupation: Professor of archaeology Note: Capt. Marvel was created by Carl Burgos (better known as creator of the android Human Torch), and was published by Myron Fass Enterprises between 1966 - 1968. His archvillains include the Bat, Dr. Fate, Plasticman, and the Ray. Partially because of Fass's apparent attitude towards copyright infringement, and because of the vagueness of his background in the original comic, I have supplemented his origin, tying him into the DCU. Quote: Split! Background: About ten billion years ago a race of immortals possessing great intelligence and mental power came into prominence. The planet Oa in the very center of the universe became their paradise. Though their powers were great, their number was comparitively few, and the Oans elected to work through outside agents. They first created robots called Manhunters, but later abandoned them in favor of a group of living creatures they ultimately named the Green Lantern Corps. Captain Marvel is android created of alien materials not available on Earth. He was originally created by the Guardians of the Universe, as the prototype for a new, more intelligent and more powerful, style of Manhunter. However, when the project was abandoned in favor of the Green Lantern Corps, he was sent into space, eventually landing on Earth. He landed in Riverview in 1965 and took 15-year-old Billy Baxton as his ward and confidante, recalling nothing of his origins other than a sense that he was sent to preserve the peace. Billy taught him the ways of Earth life. Assuming the identity Roger Winkle, the space robot landed a job as a reporter for an important press service, then later earned a professorship at Dartmoor College, where he lectured in the cause of peace -- and when talking wasn't enough, he became Captain Marvel. Over the years he battled foes such as the Bat (relettered to be "the Ray" in his second appearance), the Destroyer, Dr. Fate, Ghost Patrol, Plasticman (relettered to be "Elasticman" in his second appearance), Tarzac, and Per Degaton. As the 60's waned, he began to grow sceptical and lose his earlier idealism. He left behind his platonic romance with Linda Knowles, daughter of Dartmoor's president, and came to Central City in hopes of finding a new direction. Personality: Capt. Marvel is a disenchanted idealist. He started his career in the mid-60's on the crest of the progressive movement, and seen it fall by the wayside. He still however maintains a basically pure, optimistic point of view. Some of this is a result of his programming (which was designed to establish a guardian of law and order), other of it do to his association with traditional values and morals as he became acclimated to human life in the Midwestern town of Riverview. Powers: Capt. Marvel need only utter the word "Split!" whereupon he can separate at every joint of his body, right down to his fingertips, and send them flying through the air to do his bidding. Unless separated by glass (cf. disadvantages) he has perfect control over their maneuverability. The limbs are still as strong as the whole for sheer muscle-power (and can take equivalent damage) although sometimes suffer due to lesser degree of leverage. He does not have to see them to control them; internal sensors relay their surroundings back to him. Whether whole or divided, Capt. Marvel can move and fly at slow, normal, or super-speed (up to Mach One). His control and maneuverability are perfect, although past the sound barrier he is liable to overshoot his mark; in addition to flight, he has laser-beam eyes which can release a continuous beam which can burn through virtually anything, although they are reflectible, and also narrow-beamed (i.e. he can't make them thicker in size) -- he could destroy a large object such as a tank but it would take close to a minute. The beams can travel for approximately a thousand feet without appreciable deterioration. He also has an iron constitution -- bulletproof and strong enough to lift slightly more than 20 tons. Skills (training, learned knowledge): Capt. Marvel, as Roger Winkle, was endowed with the super intellect of his creators. This includes eidetic memory and high-level logical skills. He has investigated the craft which brought him to Earth, learning some off-Earth science and incorportating it into a science and astronomy lab; however, other than that he is limited to what he can learn from earth physics and his own experiments. He has also been trained in Marxist analysis of historical trends, although he rarely manifests that skill anymore. Flaws (mental defects): Capt. Marvel has no idea how his body functions. Despite his super intellect, his only knowledge of science is what he has learned on Earth. Hence, although his body repairs itself at an accelerated rate, he is incapable of affecting the process. Disadvantages (physical defects): Capt. Marvel's power source lays in his amulet. It is alien technology and (cf. IC_Flaws) he has been unable to discern its exact mechanism. He does know that it contains a mineral called X, and that he must rub his hand over it once a day to keep his powers at maximum levels. If he is deprived of his amulet for too long, he goes into hibernation, unable to move or be moved. Moreover, he cannot command his roving anatomy if there is glass between it and his head (i.e. if his head or his body is completely encased in glass ... no other low-technology substance has been known to prevent his thoughts or words from reaching itinerate anatomy. COMMANDER STEEL Steel is a 6 foot tall man wearing a full body costume. It is mostly red with blue shorts, boots, and gloves. There is a blue fin on top of his red cowl. On his chest and back are a white and blue stylized eagle and star. KID MARVELMAN You see a man close to seven feet tall. His face has an unearthly beauty, with slightly arched eyebrows, and elegantly styled, slicked-back black hair. He moves with grace, and sparkles with a glimmering aura. He is dressed in a black bodysuit with a large gold "KM" on his chest, and two gold bands running horizontally from the sides of his chest emblem and around his back. Jonathan Bates You see a man close to seven feet tall. His face has an unearthly beauty, with slightly arched eyebrows, and elegantly styled, slicked-back black hair. He is dressed in a perfectly tailored, black Armani suit. He moves with grace, and seems to sparkle with a glimmering aura, though that may be an optical illusion. He sees you looking at him and presents his card, which reads simply, "Jonathan Bates, Sunburst Cybernetics." Position: President of Sunburst Cybernetics Affiliation: The Marvelman Family Quote: So! The alien still lives. You should have remained dead, alien ... being dead is much less painful. Background: Kid Marvelman recalls as a child being given the key harmonic of the universe by astro-physicist Guntag Borghelm. For years he fought crime alongside his older counterparts, Marvelman and Young Marvelman. Then, one day, they got a call that their arch-enemy, the mad scientist Dr. Emil Gargunza, had returned. As they were investigating, KM got a strange sensation that something was wrong, and tried to escape ... and was nearly killed by an atomic bomb blast. After that, he decided to remain Kid Marvelman permanently, for his own protection. At least, that is what he remembers. In fact, Johnny Bates was kidnapped at a young age by a government agency called the Spookshow. There, a super-powered clone was built, which he had the power to transform into when he triggered, by stating a word, a small device implanted in the base of his skull. There, he spent years in sleep, being fed hallucinatory adventures. When the Project was closed down, the govenment decided to dispose of the monster-clones using the most powerful weapon they had. Unfortunately, it was not completely successful ... He discovered he had a flair for electronics, and founded Sunburst Cybernetics, slowly accumulating wealth and power, only using his powers when they proved insufficient to gain a material advantage. He has recently emigrated to Coast City from London, feeling a need to expand his business to the States, and also to enter into a community of like-powered (and like-minded) allies, which have been few in London. Personality: Kid Marvelman is a merciless capitalist and a vicious, sadistic villain. He prefers achieving his ends the civilized way, steadily accumulating financial and political power; hence he is extremely reluctant to use his metahuman abilities, save for when it is truly necessary. Powers: Kid Marvelman mentally generates a force field, which manifests itself visually as a sparkling aura around his body. By manipulating the forcefield, he can manifest apparent super-strength and invulnerability (at least up to post-Crisis Superman/Marvel Family/Hyperion levels), and flight and speed of at least Mach 3. In this sense he is similar to Marvel's Gladiator, in that he uses psionic ability to mimic Superman-level physical power. He can also manipulate energy more directly, as beams of heat from his eyes (also up to Superman-level) or charging ambient electricity to form lightning bolts. He has low-grade telepathic ability, enough to sense people's emotions and to perform psychic attacks; he can also sense the presence of those who have strong powers although he can not sense what those powers actually are. His mental shields are strong enough to block any telepath short of Xavier, once given time to prepare; caught by surprise, his shields are no greater than a normal strong-willed human. Finally, Bates is a genetically amplified human: even aside from the mental abilities he would be stronger and faster than a normal human (perhaps at Captain America level) and has above-average sensory ability; he doesn't have Superman-level senses, but enough greater than a normal human that he could dispense with a pair of binoculars, or hear a whisper in a room. Special Abilities (above the norm): Although he has little knowedge of it, Kid Marvelman's aura can be used to accomodate just about any super-power. He has the powers he does due to subconscious influence from the Superman films. Fortunately, he is not introspective enough to spend the time in meditation necessary to develop stronger telepathy or other abilities. Skills (training, learned knowledge): Kid Marvelman is an electronics genius. Flaws (mental defects): Kid Marvelman has pretty much gotten his own way throughout his life. Although he can come across as being quite urbane and sophisticated, when crossed he tends to act like a spoiled child ... which does not make him any less dangerous. Also, at a deep subconscious level, he is aware of some contradictions regarding his origins and the deaths of his friends. He has vague impressions of his thoughts not being his own ... a blonde Marvelwoman ... and the thought that somewhere, out there, is Emil Gargunza. Consequently when something occurs which brings any of these impressions to mind, he can become uncharacteristically nervous ... and may react indiscreetly. Disadvantages (physical defects): If Kid Marvelman states the name of his mentor, "Marvelman", he is immediately transformed into powerless, 13-year-old, Johnny Bates. LAUREL KENTYou see a teenage girl with strong features and slightly curled, shoulder- length dark hair. She is wearing a dashing red cloak, a complex thing of many layers which conceals much of her body. She is also wearing red ankle- boots. On the front of her cloak is an inverted triangle in which is set the crest of the El family in Kryptonese. Background: Laurel Kent is a 30th century descendent of the Kryptonian hero, Superman. Her parents raised her on Rokyn (a world colonised by Daxamian survivors of the bottle city of Kandor) under a red sun so that she could be raised as a normal child. She has a fairly upbeat, cheerful personality, though is a bit suspicious of the current Supergirl whom she sees as an upstart. She left Rokyn after learning of her parents' involvement in the Pocket Superboy project. Her parents had actually intended to marry her to Superboy as a way of refreshing the power of the bloodline. On her own, she decided to travel to Earth and attempt to join the Legion of Superheroes. Powers: Her only power is invulnerability. This includes invulnerability to Kryptonite, which her family had long since recovered from over centuries of crossbreeding with humans. She is weakened by red sun radiation, though it takes longer for her power to wear out (than it did for Superman) because her energy expenditure is less. LIBERTY BELLE (note: much of this entry prepared by Jeff Rovin) You see a tall, slender woman with classical features and a blonde, pageboy hairstyle. She is wearing a blue, high-collar blouse with billowing red and white striped sleeves, a red-and-white striped cape and a matching mini-skirt which flows easily about her hips. Completing the outfit are a red eyemask, boots, and gloves. Background: A martial arts wiz, Caroline Dean is also a trained astronaut. When the President needs someone with those particular talents, he calls Dean at the New York fashion model agency which she owns. In her best publicized adventure, she sniffed out a communist imposter on a Skylab mission and took his place in space. THE PENGUIN (note: much of this entry prepared by Michael Fleischer) The Penguin is a chubby little man, surprisingly nimble, in spite of his fat -- with a pointy nose, a waddling gait, a cherubic face, and a monocle. He wears a black coat, a white shirt, gray trousers, a high silk hat, and a pair of purple gloves. Alias: Oswald Chesterfield Cobblepot alias The Penguin alias Mr. Boniface alias I. Waddle Physical Attributes: The Penguin's strength and speed are normal for a man of his height and weight. Despite this though he is remarkably agile for one so fat, although not superhumanly so. The Penguin is extremely vain and prides himself on his appearence and on the cleverness of his crimes. He also, however, has a hard undercore of anger, based on abuses he suffered in his youth, that fuel him when his crimes seem to be going badly. He is somewhat hedonistic and enjoys the finer things in life, though views with contempt those who would be ruled by their appetites (and, hence, enjoys making money off them). Resources: The Penguin is a criminal mastermind; whatever the crime he has always committed it with the instinct and dedication of a master craftsman, for he is a man who feels strongly that a perfect crime is a work of art. Penguin's edge over the other Gothamite supervillains has always been his keen ability to play people off of one another, an ability comparable to if not quite the equal of Lex Luthor's; it was this talent that allowed him to reign in the Joker as a partner against their mutual foe. He falls short of being a mechanical genius, but he is quite technically skilled and capable of ingenious and innovative uses of standard technology. The Penguin never goes anywhere without at least one of his trick umbrellas. Nevertheless, his use of trick umbrellas has toned down considerably since he's become 'respectable' (see below), but there are some standards he is rarely without. Among the most common ones are: an umbrella adapted to shoot bullets (sometimes with the canopy serving as a bullet- proof shield) is the most common. This commonly works at about the level of a .22 caliber rifle, with the bullets arranged in a queue mechanism stored in the handle. He is a reasonable shot though far from expert, and the aiming mechanism is not precise; typically he uses this only at short range; an umbrella designed to work as a one-man helicopter. This allows him VTOL capability and can travel in all directions at around 25 mph for a distance of around 5 miles ... it's designed to get him from the center of town to his secret hideout, essentially, which is typically not too far from the Gotham City boarders; a sword-handled umbrella, of standard design. It is tempered steel and he is quite proficient with it. In addition, he has adapted umbrellas to squirt acid, throw flames, explode a smoke cartridge, and even spread the germs of psittacosis (parrot fever). His umbrellas have concealed mirrors and radios mounted in their handles. They have fired clouds of debilitating gas, poison darts, green paint, and sneeze or itching powder, and even served as gliders, pogo-sticks, and parachutes. He has a lead-handled umbrella used as a club; an umbrella which shoots a small explosive shell; an umbrella which shoots the knob attached to its handle in the manner of a popgun; a motion-picture-camera umbrella with a telescopic lens mounted in its handle; and another whose shaft serves as a rifle barrel while its canopy functions as a bulletproof shield. In addition to these, the Penguin has employed umbrellas which shoot a large fishnet lined with fishhooks, throw a heat ray, or fire explosive cartridges powerful enough to blow a man in half; an umbrella with a glass cutter in its handle, and an umbrella booby-trapped to squirt sleeping gas in the face of anyone trying to fire it; an umbrella whose tip serves as a super- flashbulb to blind his victims, an umbrella equipped with tongs, and an umbrella which administers an electric shock; a floating umbrella which, when inverted, functions as a small boat; an extension handled umbrella; an umbrella with magnetised handles and beach umbrella which whirl like giant fans; and a jet-umbrella which the Penguin rides through the air like a flying broomstick. He sometimes carries an entire arsenal of umbrellas slung over his shoulder inside a special umbrella quiver. The Penguin is also a devoted amateur ornithologist. He often has based his crimes on birds and has sometimes employed real ones: parrots trained to memorise the combination of a safe; trained fighting eagles with drugged beaks and claws; saw-whet owls whose characteristic rasping cries cover up the sounds of a safe being forced open; New Zealand wood hens which instinctively attack anything red to distract the Dynamic Duo as they attack Robin's uniform. He has also used airborne toy penguins which release angry hornets, intended to cause confusion while he and his men loot the city; a penguin- shaped blimp; and robotic version of mythological winged animals such as the phoenix, roc, thunderbird, basilisk, and a winged lion. He is familiar with most of the Gotham City chief figures in the underworld and illicit entertainment businesses; these include Matches Malone, although he is unaware that Malone is secretly the Batman. He has a few more notable contacts with the super-criminal underworld. These include: Mr. Buzzard, with whom he opened the Penguin and Buzzard Bird Store, under the pretext of going straight. To publicise the opening of the store, the Penguin and Mr. Buzzard presented gifts of exotic birds to selected wealthy Gothamites; the bird cages were booby-trapped to enable the Penguin and his men to rob the recipients. Mr. Buzzard is presently in prison; the Joker (alias A. Rekoj alias I. Rekoj alias B.C. De Nil), with whom he has frequently associated in attempts to bring down their common foe. The Joker tends to maintain an easy banter with the Penguin, to which the latter responds in kind, and they are effective co- plotters (although still of course unsuccessful in their main goal of defeating the Batman). On the other hand, the Penguin is well aware of the dangers of the Joker's madness and has demurred from any activity which has involved going against him; the Catwoman has also been associated with the Penguin in the past. However, given her present status as a mercenary who is more likely to bring down a super-criminal than plot with one, he has recently tended to avoid extended contact with her. The two are not declared enemies however, and while he has avoided meeting with her in person he would be willing to employ her in a job which he suspected she would not find excessively felonious; in addition, he is generally known in the super-criminal world as a 'name' and has at various times been parts of organised attacks on the Batman Family and the Justice League. Despite this he has always received less publicity in his criminal exploits than other Batman foes such as Joker and Catwoman, which has repeatedly nagged on his sense of vanity. Although he was acknowledged as dangerous, the Penguin never had quite the personal cache of the Joker or Catwoman. Consequently, he was often mocked by the Gotham underworld for being someone who the Batman always defeated. On occasion he responded by trying to change his MO (doing non-bird related crimes, for example) but he was still the loser in those altercations. Finally he was prompted, after his last release from prison, to try something more radically different. Combat Skills: Lacking either superhuman powers or athletic ability, the Penguin relies chiefly on his trick umbrellas. An exception to the above generalisation however is that the Penguin is an above-average fencer. Not up to Olympic level but certainly above average, and skillful enough to duel Batman for close to a minute before being disarmed -- typically those seconds are long enough for his men to gang up on Batman or for the Penguin to spring his trap. Origin & History: Oswald Cobblepot did not have a happy childhood. His father died from pneumonia when he was still young. His mother blamed the death on her husband being caught in the rain without an umbrella, and made the youth carry one at all times. He was constantly ridiculed for this, as well as for his odd appearance. He studied politics, and had always seen himself as a potential Napoleon of Crime. His only joy came from helping his mother run the family bird shop. Not much is known of the intervening years in which he developed his criminal skills. He finally decided to make his name by stealing two Watreau paintings from an art exhibition, presenting them to a big-time Gotham racketeer known as "the boss" and begging to be allowed to join his gang. When the boss asked the newcomer's name, he smiled and gave the nickname that had been used to torment him as a child. Accepted into the gang, the newly dubbed Penguin launched a spectacular crime wave. When "the boss", apprehensive over the Penguin's ambitions, attempted to put him in his place, the Penguin murdered him and assumed control of the gang. Since then he has been a frequent threat to Gotham, each time barely defeated by the Dynamic Duo. His most spectacular crime: He sent Batman a letter accusing him of cowardice; the letter was dosed with psittacosis (parrot fever) which caused periodic bouts of weakness and dizziness. He then took advantage of this to publically mock Batman, who did appear to be unable to pursue or combat him in public. Much of his current liberty is due to his brief affiliation with the Suicide Squad, and its effect on ameliorating his sentenced imprisonment. Consequently he is no longer wanted in Gotham, and has officially served his time for past crimes. Since his release from prison he has established a stronghold in Gotham's vice businesses. Most of his power now is controlling the night-clubs that are used to traffick underground operations; he (probably) runs a few 'protection rackets' too. All of his personal contacts and experience are with the underworld. The only things he is qualified to do are go into crime, or open a bird or an umbrella shop. Of those options, crime is clearly the most lucrative. SPLITTER (note: entry prepared by Gina) You see a tallish boy with bright orange skin and mismatched limbs. Looking at him from the top down, his head is covered by a metallic purple helmet, sporting a small fin top and center. A cheerful look is on his orange humanoid features, and his orange ears stick out slightly from the sides of his helmet. He's wearing a metallic purple tank top and shorts, which is formfitting and extends to his upper thighs. From the end of the shorts to his feet, his coloring vaguely resembles that of a girraffe. His arms change tone from bright orange to a scaly yellow right below his shoulders. His feet are bare. Floyd Belkin: You see a cheerful lad with a bright orange face and a blond, wavy fro. He's wearing a pair of tight-ish jeans, reeboks, and a big T-shirt proclaiming 'I Survived the ShadowyPlot and All I Got Was This Stupid T-Shirt'. Underneath the t-shirt he's wearing a white cotton longsleeved 'long johns' shirt, which covers his arms up to the wrists. His hands are oddly scaly, and quite yellow. Affiliation: Legion of Substitute Heroes, Heroes of Lallor (30th Century) Background: A native mutant of the mutant-hating world of Lallor, Floyd Belkin grew up in hiding, reared by sympathetic sympathizers, aneristic-yet-not-hopeless anarchists, erisian escapists, and motherly mutants. His friends were all weirdos, like him...Duplicate Boy and Gas Girl are two examples of other Lallorian mutant-heroes. All his life, he lived with the fact that he wasn't -like- everyone else...marked by his orange skin and detachable limbs. Finally, his chance for escape arrived. With tears of farewell from his mutant friends and surrogate families, Floyd stowed away on a freigher headed for Earth. As soon as he arrived, he knew this was the place for him - there were so many mutants and metahumans, and the diversity was so amazingly beautiful! Upon his entrance into Terran society, he succeeded in joining the amazing Legion of Substitute Heroes, and is currently being taught to lose his limbs with a purpose...to manifest this power as the focused totality of his long-opressed yet glorious mutant abilities! Powers: Floyd's limbs - that is, ARMS and LEGS only (that's what limbs are, not digits like fingers and toes:)) detach right below the shoulder and right below the torso. They fall off at will, but also (sometimes) unintentionally. Skills: Very good at lying on the ground, helpless...can club people with various limbs, provided he still has an arm or so attached...um, he can make his limbs fall off in strategic places, so villains trip over them...umm...:) Special Abilities: You can chop at Splitter with a sword or something, and if you get him in exactly the right places at the exactly correct angles, you won't hurt him and his limbs will detach just like they normally do. If he's having a sword swung at him, though, he's probably already fallen all to pieces from panic. If you get him with a sword or whatever in any other places, though, you'll hurt him pretty badly and the only way he can fight you is by bleeding on you. Flaws: No mental flaws, except maybe scarring from the years of trauma and angst on the mutant-hating world of Lallor.:) Disadvantages: Floyd's power is rather useless. I mean, his arms and legs come off, right? Then what? Nothing! End of story. He lies there looking helpless, while his arms and legs are just kind of lying there doing nothing. The other Subs always have to rescue him...:) Personality: Floyd is a very cheerful guy, considering his unhappy origin. However, his current status with the Legion Subs provide him with just the right environment to flourish. WHIZZY (note: much of this entry prepared by The Kon-El and Cassie Page of Love)
You see an orange cat, with a high forehead and short fur of bright orange. On his side is a yellow mark which resembles a streak of lightning. Around his shoulders is a bright red cape, emblazoned on which is a stylised yellow 'W'. Yet his eyes are strangely human. Background: After Superman's death at the hands of Doomsday, his body was taken to the Cadmus Project where director Paul Westfield unsuccessfully tried to clone Superman. Whereas the Cadmus scientists had not been able to clone Superman's DNA, other experiments based on Superman's aura combined with the DNA of Paul Westfield, director of Cadmus at the time, were successful and resulted in the clone later known as Superboy. However, before their creation of Superboy, they attempted the process on a number of animals. The only one to survive was an orange cat named Whizzy. When the superpowered feline proved too difficult to control, they played him in a suspended animation vault. The vault was self-powered and remained hidden underground for centuries, until it was uncovered by Supergirl and the LSH. Powers: Whizzy possesses "tactile telekinesis"; essentially if he can picture moving it with his mind, and he can touch it, it will be done. This enables him the equivalent of super strength, practical invulnerability, and the ability to fly. At top speed, he can outrun a high speed train, or fly coast to coast in under 4 hours, and has outflown a jet flying at Mach 3. Whizzy is vulnerable to things which he can't clearly touch, for example forms of energy, knockout gases, and magic. He also has low-level telepathy (enough to project his thoughts) and a level of intelligence roughly that of a 10-year-old child, so he can communicate with humans quite easily. YANKEE DOODLE You see a man of slightly less than average height wearing only white trunks. He has electrical cord loosely wound around his wrists, ankles, and chest. He is powerfully muscled but his limbs seem twisted, as if he were slightly deformed. Despite this he moves with the speed and force of a hurricane. He is almost bald, save for sparse curly black hairs on the top of his head. His face is most disturbing. In place of his ears are what appear to be metal carrier handles, in place of his mouth is what appears to be a blue plastic comb, and he does not appear to have a nose. Covering his eyes are two Scrabble cubes, complete with numbered scores, representing the letters "Y" and "D". Floating around him in a rough circle are seven disembodied heads; they are bald, and colored a pale blue, and their expressions seem to change to match the emotions of their host. Position: Pentagon Operative Background: The curtain rises on John Dandy, gone quite zany and scratchy since his sojourn in the lost city below the Pentagon. John Dandy of the many faces -- each face a reservoir of unearthly power. Such dreadful thoughts and imaginings! It takes seven heads to contain them all and, even then, it's not enough. What he used to be no longer applies. Once upon a time some government bigwig freaked out and went down into the city under the Pentagon, taking a lot of sensitive documents with him. Somebody had to go down there after him ... and Dandy volunteered. They sent him down into the white abyss and waited. There were garbled radio transmissions about enormous structures walking, people or things with tunnels instead of eyes ... and then they lost all contact. A year later Dandy came back. Or at least something that claimed to be Dandy came back. It was hard to be sure on account of his face. He insisted he'd swapped his face for this new thing and ... well, then he did something to two of the soldiers. Enemies of America beware! Beware the man who always leaves ... who always leaves ... a feather for his foes. Skills: John Dandy trained for years in espionage and disguise. However, it is unclear at this point how many memories of these years he retains. Advantages: John Dandy has many high-ranking Pentagon contacts. Disadvantages: John Dandy has no life, and is completely ignorant of contemporary culture. Equipment: John Dandy is surrounded by a halo of seven pale, floating disembodied heads. He can reach up and peel away a face from the air and hurl it, discus-fashion, towards an opponent. The face can transform the opponent into a temporally previous version of himself, or even conceivably an alternate-Earth counterpart of himself ... the full dimension of this equipment has not yet been explored. Powers: John Dandy has heightened strength, speed, endurance, and agility. YOUNG DARKSEID He looks just like Darkseid, but he's shorter, and has YD on his chest in red. Origin and History: Young Darkseid is the champion of New Apokolips, and descendent of Darkseid through Kalibak's bloodline. He has long struggled, taking Brainiac 5 as an inspiration, to reform the name of his bloodline. Naturally, when the Legion and History announced tryouts, he tried to join, only to be rejected; they claimed his powers were of no use to the Legion because they might unwittingly harm one of them in battle. Feeling rejected and depressed, Young Darkseid briefly considered returning to villainy, but evenetually sought to align himself with one of the other super-teams such as the Fugitives. Motivation and Personality. YD is basically a drag to be around. He is sullen and grouchy, and easily depressed. This is mainly due to feelings of rejection, and the general depressing nature of New Apokolips. Also, he feels that his family line has tainted him. Superpower: YD's power is his Omega Vision, a form of energy projected from his eyes. It can be used as force bolts or disintegration beams, and will follow their intended target until they contact it. Characteristic Plotline: When Andromeda rejects the super-teen Young Darkseid when he applies for LSH membership, claiming his powers of omega-vision are no use because it might unwittingly harm one of them in battle, YD seeks his revenge by gathering an impromptu group to attack the Legion, consisting of creations from New Apokalypse's cell banks from the 20th century (Li'l Umbra, Superboy Junior, Kid Orion) as well as a hypnotised Andromeda. With the defeat of his clones and his increased distraction, Andromeda is freed from his hypnotic control ... once the LSH realises that Andromeda has not betrayed them, YD boom tubes out in a huff.
